Lasagna

1 lb sweet or hot italian sausage
1/2 lb ground beef
1/2 C chopped onion
2 cloves garlic, crushed
1 TBS sugar
1 tsp. salt

Brown sausage and beef, then saute onion and garlic and add sugar and salt

Add:
4 C tomatoes (undrained) or 1 can Italian style tomatoes(2 lb 3 oz)
2 cans tomato paste
**or use 1 large can tomato juice and 1 can tomatoes, and omit the above and water**
1 1/2 tsp. basil
1/2 tsp. fennel seed
1/4 tsp. pepper
1/4 C chopped parsley(save half of this)
1/2 C water

Bring this to a boil and then simmer for at least one hour

Boil:
12 curly lasagna noodles in water
1 TBS salt
or
12 oven-ready lasagna noodles

When tender, remove from water and lay on towel to dry

1 carton Ricotta or cottage cheese
1 egg
1/2 tsp. salt
rest of chopped parsley

Mix together

3/4 lb Mozarella cheese
3/4 C grated Parmesan cheese

In a 13x15 pan, put 1 cup sauce, then the lasagna noodles
Layer noodles with cottage cheese mixture, Mozarella cheese and Parmesan cheese
Continue layering, ending with cheese

Bake 25 minutes at 375 with foil, 25 minutes without foil at 350
Remove from ove and let set for 15 minutes
